Sara Fitzgerald is a former editor and new media developer for The Washington Post, and the author of the 2011 biography Elly Peterson: “Mother” of the Moderates.
Fitzgerald was the first woman editor-in-chief of The Michigan Daily and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1973 with a degree in history and journalism. In addition to The Post, she has worked as a copy editor or reporter at National Journal magazine, the St. Petersburg Times, The Miami Herald, and the Akron Beacon Journal. She helped to found Funds For Learning, LLC, an educational technology consulting firm, and also worked on online policy issues for the Interactive Services Association.
She began her research on the life of Elly Peterson in 2005, and welcomes opportunities to share what she has learned with audiences and readers.
